Andrew Warburton
Andrew, aged 39 and quite a bit, has been in high altitude training for the last year spending more time than is necessary in the spare bedroom on the top floor of his house. He has climbed extensively both here in the UK and internationally, having successfully reached the highest peaks in Norfolk, Holland and Belgium. In 2009, he was part of a three man expedition that climbed from The Underdog on Northcote Road to The Establishment on Battersea Rise covering a distance of some 300 metres whilst reaching the dizzy altitude of 27 metres above sea level. A trained First Aider, Andrew is responsible for taking a box of plasters to Kilimanjaro.
Adam Joy
Adam, aged not quite as old as Andrew, is a keen and experienced climber. He has successfully climbed Balham Hill on numerous occasions, once without having to stop at The Avalon. Last year he led a remarkably successful expedition to the summit of Lavender Hill with his two young children and his longest trek to date was an unaided walk to Clapham Common tube station when Clapham South was closed. Away from climbing Adam is an unqualified nutritionist and is responsible for the team’s re-fuelling and re-hydration strategy.
Peter Reynolds
Peter, aged a little bit older than Andrew, is an accomplished all round sportsman excelling at all types of bar games and pastimes. He is a veteran of many successful expeditions to Mao Tai, a notoriously hard to reach cocktail bar/restaurant precariously perched on a high ridge on the New Kings Road. Peter also has experience of overcoming hardship and unpleasant conditions at altitude having once failed to get upgraded from business to first class on a flight to New York. Peter is also an internationally renowned recording artist and has been elected by the team as Entertainment Co-ordinator.
David Hurst
David, aged quite a lot older than Andrew, is a skilled navigator and climber. David has been lost in most counties in the UK and is an unpaid consultant to Tom Tom. Having led several expeditions throughout the UK and Europe, David prefers to take the long route and prides himself on his ability to discover previously unknown landmarks that have been missed by the Ordnance Survey experts. As an international authority on storage containers David is responsible for ensuring the team get off to sleep at night.
Jonny Whittingham (non-executive)
Jonny, age unknown but looks a lot younger than Andrew, is a world class mountaineer. Having represented England in drinking games at some of the worlds highest bars, Jonny’s ability to take on liquid at altitude is one of his greatest strengths. Along with Peter he led the first ever successful lock-in at Mao Tai and is one of very few climbers who has managed to work his way through their entire cocktail list. When not climbing, Jonny pretends to be a hugely successful international financier, and is responsible for tipping the porters.
